Our bots pick groceries from the grids in our warehouses, and our 600 Series bot is the world's lightest and most efficient grocery fulfilment bot. Over half of its components are 3D printed. It’s cheaper to build and run than its predecessor, as well as ultra-energy efficient.

The lightweight design of the 600 Series bot allows us to build lighter grids (the section of the site where groceries are picked) in only a few weeks (rather than months), thus saving us time, resources and running costs.

The challenging process of manually loading ready-for-customer orders onto delivery frames gets an automated upgrade. This means lower labour costs and higher productivity per employee.

We’ve developed the on-grid robotic pick to have machine vision, deep reinforcement learning and advanced sensing capabilities, so it can pick tens of thousands of products of varying shapes, sizes and weight - including the most fragile and delicate items - and pack them densely in bags with human precision and accuracy.

Smaller fulfilment centres can’t stock a retailer’s whole range, but thanks to Ocado Orbit, customers will be able to shop a full range, yet enjoy short lead times. How? Ocado Orbit splits the full range of products offered by a retailer (sometimes several tens of thousands of items) across a number of smaller fulfilment centres located closer to the customer.

This “virtual distribution centre” is powered by Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, creating a seamless supply ecosystem shared by the multiple smaller footprint warehouses.

This innovation enables last-minute, short-lead time orders to be picked, packed, and delivered alongside larger, longer lead-time orders on the same grid and via the same van. This means that for the first time ever, partners can offer both immediacy and longer-lead time services, while customers get choice, value and lead times that work for them.

Pre-existing client webshops can be integrated with our OSP webshop, should the client wish to do so. Our partners will benefit from the AI intelligence of an OSP webshop, while keeping their existing touch points with their customers.
