In July 2021, Ocado Group signed a partnership agreement with Auchan Retail to develop Alcampo's online business in Spain using the Ocado Smart Platform (OSP).

Partnership Milestones

Alcampo uses Ocado Group's In-Store Fulfilment (ISF) software across hypermarkets nationwide to enable efficient picking from stores, covering Alcampo's food and non-food business. ISF started to go live across Alcampo's hypermarket network in 2022. According to Alcampo data, productivity rates in the preparation of online orders with Ocado’s ISF solution doubled within a year.

Alcampo's first Customer Fulfilment Centre (CFC) went live in San Fernando de Henares in July 2024, serving the Madrid region, with additional CFCs to be announced at future dates. The CFC includes two innovative new technologies from Ocado: Automated Frameload (AFL) and On-Grid Robotic Pick (OGRP). AFL enables totes to be loaded onto van frames for dispatch without human touch, and OGRP is a pioneering robotic arm, making real-time decisions to automate the picking and packing of groceries.
