The state-of-the-art CFC, the first of its kind in Spain, begins fulfiling orders today for customers across Madrid. The CFC is equipped with Ocado’s latest technologies, including On-Grid Robotic Pick (OGRP) and Automated Frameload (AFL).

At full capacity, Alcampo expects to deliver more than 70,000 orders per week (OPW) from the CFC to customers in Madrid and the wider region, with a delivery fleet powered by fully electric or hybrid vehicles.

Alcampo already uses Ocado’s In-Store Fulfilment (ISF) software across hypermarkets nationwide to enable efficient picking from stores, covering their food and non-food business. This has already generated a significant improvement in their ecommerce efficiency. The go-live of the CFC will bring the full benefits of automation and scaled fulfilment to their online capabilities.

"Our partnership with Alcampo is already generating a step-change in the quality of service that customers can expect online. We look forward to these benefits reaching even more customers with this state-of-the-art, automated Customer Fulfilment Centre: the first of its kind in Spain."
Gregor Ulitzka, President Europe, Ocado Solutions

The opening of this CFC is the high point in an ambitious project that will enable us to be leaders in omnichannel grocery in Spain. It will make our promise to customers a daily reality, enabling them to shop for groceries however, whenever and wherever they want.

-Antonio Valverde, Director of Ecommerce, Alcampo

The site is located in San Fernando de Henares, near Madrid. The CFC will be unveiled by Alcampo and Ocado executives at an official ceremony in September.
