Montreal announced as the location for new Customer Fulfilment Centre
Ocado Group Plc (“Ocado”) is delighted to announce an agreement between Ocado Solutions and Sobeys Inc. (“Sobeys”) to build a second Customer Fulfilment Centre (“CFC”) in Pointe-Claire, Montreal. The new site will be Sobeys’ second, adding to the centre already under construction in Vaughan, Ontario to serve the Greater Toronto Area. Construction and development of the Vaughan, Ontario CFC is progressing well.
Ocado entered an exclusive partnership with Sobeys in 2018 to help them transform the online shopping experience for grocery shoppers in Canada using our end-to-end technology and automation solutions – the Ocado Smart Platform. Today’s announcement builds on that agreement and will enable Sobeys to bring a seamless, world-class online grocery experience to customers across Ottawa and major cities in the Province of Quebec.
Luke Jensen, CEO of Ocado Solutions, said:
Today is an exciting moment for Sobeys’ and Ocado’s relationship as we deepen an already strong partnership and bring an unrivalled online grocery experience to consumers in another important Canadian market.
Sobeys’ decision to order a second CFC in Quebec demonstrates its commitment to providing a world-class online service to its customers across Canada. At the same time, as consumers around the world increasingly recognise the ease and wider benefits of shopping for groceries online, this announcement underlines the ability of the Ocado platform to respond at speed to developing demand in our partners’ markets.”
Sarah Joyce, SVP, Ecommerce, Sobeys Inc., said:
We are confident in the CFC we are building in the Greater Toronto Area and have now turned our attention to the next destination in Canada. Today, we also announced the new brand and name for our e-commerce solution. Powered by Ocado’s world-leading technology, Voilà by Sobeys will launch in Toronto beginning in Spring 2020 and Voilà par IGA will launch in Montreal serving Quebec and the Ottawa area in 2021.”
