BRITS STOCK UP ON SEX-ENTIALS AHEAD OF LONG WEEKENDS

  • Sex-ccessory sales soar by more than 400%
  • Condom sales rise by 50%
  • Durex Play Vibrating Ring sales up by 250% ahead of May bank holiday

LONDON, 2 May 2014: Frisky Brits are going bonkers for sex-ccessories ahead of their bank holidays according to new sales figures released today.

Ocado, the online supermarket, has seen a sharp rise in sales of condoms and playful extras as Brits prepare to spend their bank holidays between the sheets.

In the run up to the first bank holiday of the year at Easter searches for condoms at Ocado.com increased by 36% and sales of condoms surged by a whopping 50%.

Ocado Co – Founder, Jason Gissing, said: “During the week before the Easter Bank Holiday weekend, our customers were clearly delighted with the choice of prophylactics we stock, as sales of condoms soared to their highest volumes of the year so far.”

As well as condoms, sex accessory sales boomed too with sales of the Durex Pleasure range rocketing by more than 400%, particular favourites included Durex Play Dream Sensual Massager and Durex Play Vibrating Ring.

Lubricant sales also shot up by more than a third, including a 25% increase in KY Jelly sales and Durex Play sales increased tenfold.

Jason Gissing continued: “Spring has most certainly sprung for our customers, despite the weather improving outside, their focus seems firmly set on indoor activities this season.”

Ocado is already experiencing another surge in sex-ccesory sales ahead of the first May bank holiday with some products such as the Durex Play Vibrating Ring experiencing an uplift of 250%.

Jason Gissing concluded: “We are already seeing some fantastic numbers coming through ahead of the upcoming bank holiday weekend as our customers take advantage of our convenient delivery systems, which allows them to book within one hour time slots.

“We have fully restocked our supplies following the great success of Easter and it’s great to see the continued strong growth on the family planning aisle as Brits stock up on bedroom essentials as well as our fantastic BBQ nibbles too.”
