Ocado launch first ever ‘Scan and Shop’ app

October 27, 2014
  • New app adds items straight to your basket with just the scan of a barcode
  • The fastest, most convenient way to shop for groceries

Ocado, the online supermarket, has launched a new ‘Scan and Shop’ app to create the swiftest mobile shopping experience in the market. The new app, available now from Apple’s App Store, allows iPhone users to scan product barcodes from around their kitchen and home, which are then automatically added to their basket, making the shopping process even faster with fewer clicks. The newly filled basket can then be checked out in seconds and delivered in one of Ocado’s handy one hour delivery slots.

iPhone users can also scan products that they spot when they’re out and about and add them straight to their basket, saving time and energy that would otherwise be spent queuing at the checkout or carrying heavy bags.

Lawrence Hene, Director of Retail at Ocado said “Our customers love the easy, stress free experience that grocery shopping using a smartphone provides; in fact 30% of sales are now made through our mobile apps. We created ‘Scan and Shop’ to give customers shopping on their phones another quick, convenient alternative to visiting a supermarket.

“Now customers can quickly whiz around their kitchen with their iPhone and checkout without even having to visit an aisle. It’s the future of grocery shopping and we’re excited to once again be pioneering new technology that will change the way we shop forever.”
