Ocado targets North West with new money saving tool

ONLINE GROCER, Ocado, pledged today to beat the price of all comparable Tesco shopping baskets with the launch of its Low Price Promise. The money saving initiative, which will be trialled in the North West, is an extension of Ocado’s existing Tesco Price Match scheme.

Not only will the UK’s biggest online supermarket cut out the time and hassle of check-out queues, but it will save cash too. Customers can shop online as normal, whilst a clever tool will monitor comparable groceries, including favourite household brands along with certain Waitrose and Ocado own-label products, adding them together for a cumulative total which will then be compared to an equivalent order at tesco.com. If it would have cost the customer less with Tesco, Ocado will provide a money-off voucher for the difference, plus a little bit more.

The new Low Price Promise will also honour any current promotions, providing even greater savings on top of its Tesco Price Match policy which already offers low prices on over 7,000 of the nation’s favourite grocery products, from Tropicana orange juice and Kellogg’s cornflakes, to Rachel’s Organic yoghurt and Pizza Express’ range of ready-made pizzas.

The Low Price Promise is also available on the popular Ocado on the Go app, providing customers with basket-filling flexibility and great deals around the clock. Details are available at the following link: http://www.ocado.com/webshop/getStaticContent.do?siteId=22753.

Jason Gissing, Ocado co-founder, comments: “At Ocado we’re committed to providing the very best range, customer service and value for our customers. Following successful trials of our new initiative in the North West, North East and Oxfordshire, we’re excited to offer even greater value to all of our customers. We have matched Tesco’s prices on branded goods for many years. Now with our Low Price Promise we’re going one step further by giving customers across the country a money off voucher if we don't beat Tesco on comparable branded and own label goods. As the name says, this is a promise to our customers. Now we won’t just match Tesco prices. We’ll beat them."
