Online supermarket seeks 600 permanent employees from Nuneaton

Online supermarket www.ocado.com has set its sights on Nuneaton as the perfect place to recruit 600 new employees for its Customer Fulfilment Centre (CFC) in Dordon, Warwickshire. The new vacancies include roles as ‘personal shoppers' who receive, pack and load customers' orders using the highly advanced technical systems that enable Ocado to provide an award-winning service for customers across the UK.

The CFC in Dordon, which officially opened for business in February 2013, is the online supermarket’s second state-of-the-art warehouse, using custom-built technology to deliver shopping across the UK. It currently employs 900 staff, but Ocado is aiming to increase this to 1,500 by the end of 2014.

Ocado have worked with bus company Stagecoach to develop a new route directly from Nuneaton bus station to the Customer Fulfilment Centre in Dordon, which runs 5 times daily Monday to Saturday and 4 times on Sunday, to enable easy travel to work for Nuneaton recruits.

“We deliver over 40,000 product lines, including a range of over 650 Ocado Own Label products alongside big-name brands. Our drive to recruit personal shoppers for Dordon means we can increase the number of orders delivered every week to our customers and grow at a greater pace in the north.”

‘Personal shopper’ salaries are highly competitive, with premium rates paid to evening, weekend or night-time workers, plus 15% staff discount, onsite cafeteria, company shop, and bonus incentives. Ocado also offer employees free shares and a choice of pension schemes. Applicants do not need previous experience in this area and training is provided following the successful completion of an interview process involving some practical testing. For new recruits there are numerous development opportunities within the CFC allowing employees to improve their skills and get promoted.
